#2018WinterTequilaRecap: Indianapolis' Top Brands

The 2018 Winter Tequila Festival in Indianapolis was sold out and came out as a big hit. Participants headed over to Broken English Taco Pub, a Mexican-inspired venue that features wall murals with images from the Latin American nation.

It was more than just a two-hour tasting event featuring the drink but also a very interactive experience between the liquor brands and the attendees. They were asked to vote for their favorite brands using the hashtags #WinterTequilaFest and #WinterTequilaFestival. Some well-known brands fell short on the list, and only three top brands were hailed as the best.

1. Camarena

Camarena Tequila

Even without knowing the history of their great tequila, tequila enthusiasts knew that Camarena has something to be proud of. With a rich history of family-owned distilleries as the backdrop, Camarena takes pride in the best of the craft from harvest to production.

“Fine Tequila doesn't happen by chance. It takes passion and dedication. We use traditional methods from field to finish, hand pruning our agave and slow roasting it to get the most fragrant aromas and delicate flavors,” the brand reveals.

Harvested in the Jalisco highlands, the ingredients form their variants, reposado and silver tequilas. The result is the right mix of flavor, alcohol content, temperature, and time-tested processes.

2. El Buho Mezcal

El Buho Mezcal

When tequila enthusiasts chose El Buho Mezcal as a top brand, they were surely noting the experience. What makes the brand different from the rest is how it focuses on generating the experience apart from the creation of flavors.

The owl on its label also has a story to tell. The drink is made from agave harvested in the Oaxaca region in Mexico, the exact birthplace of mezcal. The distillers behind the brand used an owl as the main image to depict the dark, mysterious owl that made an appearance in the folk stories of Mexico.

“Crisp, smooth and incredibly approachable, El Buho is a mezcal without pretense,” Caskers says about the brand.

3. Milagro

Milagro Top Tequila Brands

Milagro came out as Indianapolis’ top choice as the 2018 Winter Tequila Festival was concluded. It is given that brands will ensure that their beverages taste well, but only a few will take a moment and a big leap to design their bottles in a very artistic way. One of them is Milagro Tequila.

Aside from the quality of the liquor, the bottle captures modern tastes with shapes and colors that will certainly capture attention. Not just these, but the company also connects with various mural artists to further highlight its brand image.

Social Scene is preparing more events just for you. Since you loved the way tequilas were served in the tasting event, more of these kinds will happen in coming months. In March, Walking and Trolley Bar Crawls, and Whiskey Festivals are happening in Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. Watch out for another tequila festival in 2019!
