The Chicago Air & Water Show has been one of the most anticipated events in the city for decades. It started as a family day celebration in 1959 which has grown and become a large and long occasion that it is now.
For the two-day event, around 2 million people would flock to places like Lake Michigan with their beach blankets, hats, sunglasses, and lawn chairs to witness the death-defying stunts on air and rescue missions on the lake.
Air shows will have a static display and then the main show. Water shows will have activities on the sea, usually, rescue missions.
You can take a closer look at the aircraft through the static display as they are parked around the field. Visitors are open to going near the planes and are even given a chance to take a look inside them. Planes that are currently used in the military and even retired planes have been known to be on display.
