Once again it’s that time of the year that people from Chicago and other parts of the world have been waiting for! This is it, the 61st anniversary of the Chicago Air & Water Show is open, once again for 2019.

Tune in for more action in the air like aerial acrobatics and amazing watercraft stunts. All this is happening on Lake Michigan! It’s something that you need to mark your calendars for. It’s only the biggest free exhibition in all the USA, right?

Get ready to experience the excitement in the skies and waters starting August 17 (Saturday) to August 18 (Sunday). The huge celebration will be along the lakefront and from Fullerton down to Oak Street.

Want to get a glimpse of the rehearsal? Drop by on Friday, August 16 between 10 AM to 3 PM. Majority of the flight teams will be practicing the entire show on that day. If you want to feel the exclusivity of watching the planes without the crowd, this is your chance!

These are the two featured aerial teams that are on everybody's radar for the 2019 Chicago Air & Water Show. If you’ve been a follower of the said show, you’d be familiar of the usual lineup of amazing aerobic exhibitions.

They are impressive performers and are always featured alternately. This is why the crowd always looks forward to the event each year.

The US Navy Blue Angels are well-known to have set the standards; not only in the US but when it comes to military airshows all over the world. For the year 2019, the squadron has a lot of shows all over the country. They are still continuing to surprise attendees and onlookers alike.

Founded in 1984 by Alan Henley and Steve Gustafson, the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team continues to amaze spectators from all over the country, This talented aerobatic team performs awesome and tight formation aerial maneuvers on air.

They showcase their skills in front of millions of fans all over the US. They use four T-6 Texan aircraft for aerial formations, performing loops, rolls, and even bomb bursts for a grand aerobatic routine. Don't forget to catch them live at Chicago's Air & Water Show this year.

The U.S. Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team or also known as “The Leap Frogs” are also a fan favorite at Air Shows. They are the official parachute demonstration team of the US Navy. They are also part of the US Naval Special Warfare Command.

Active-duty Navy SEALs, the Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC), plus the support personnel all comprise this skilled parachute team. They are also sanctioned by the Department of Defense and are very well recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Leap Frogs surely isn’t here to play, they’re here to impress everyone who has come to see them. Be sure to catch their intense aerial performances in Chicago.

2019 Chicago Air & Water Show

 

The US Coast Guard Search & Rescue Demo and the US Coast Guard Cutter will also be present at this year’s Chicago Air & Water Show. their demonstration includes a take-off, a fly-by, and a rescue hoist from the airfield.

Using the H-65 helicopter, it is the primary Coast Guard aircraft that is used for transporting certified cutters during deployment. Currently, the MH-65E is being developed and this includes an all-glass cockpit and advanced navigation features.

It’s a sight to behold, the SAR Rescue Demo is something you should look forward to watching.

The Show Isn’t Complete Without the Chicago Fire Department Air & Sea Rescue

Definitely one of the most awaited appearances is that of the Chicago Fire Department Air & Sea Rescue. The department annually makes an appearance at the Air & Water Show showcasing rescue efforts done in the air and the sea.

At present, the department has 5,000 men active at work. They’re equipped with 1 fire boat, 60 truck companies, 4 rescue squads, 1 unit for Hazardous Materials, 1 unit for Collapse Rescue, 59 Ambulances for Advanced Life Support, 12 Ambulances for Basic Life Support, 11 Units for Airport Rescue Crash, 4 Communications Command Vans and additional auxiliary equipment.

 

Get to see them when you attend the Chicago 2019 Air & Water Show.

Note: Due to logistics and flight conditions, the exact times of performances will be determined by the pilots/teams on the day/s of the event itself.
