If you have ever managed a work place or run a business, you may know how difficult it is to find a good employee. Good employees run your business and make the whole thing easy for you. Such people are hard to find. Therefore, it is important to keep them motivated and happy, and it could be the hardest part of your role as an employer. Let’s learn something about Building Company Morale through Events and Experiences.

According to a study, 79% of employees don’t feel valued at work. You may think, “How even does it matter?” Well, when you value your people, an amazing phenomenon of acceptance occurs. They feel like real human beings who get appreciation on achievements and are valued for the efforts they make, and not a part of any machine. However, what happens when their work is not acknowledged? Yes! Your guess is right; they quit.

When an employee left, he takes 70% of his knowledge with him. If you consider the loss of productivity and the cost of recruitment and training, it could be a huge financial hit for you. You may have to face this situation if one employee quits, do you want to imagine how much loss you may have to bear if multiple employees leave in a year? I bet you don’t want to imagine it.

For a productive working place, it is important that your employees have good morale. Why is this morale so important? According to Alexander Leighton, who is a sociologist:

“Morale is the capacity of a group of people to pull together persistently and consistently in pursuit of a common purpose.”

Boosting your people’s morale is not that much difficult. It only takes some of your efforts. Here are few tips that can help you in boosting your employees’ morale:

Celebrate their Achievements:

At some workplaces, you find criticism and no acknowledgment of achievement. But, mark my words, if you want your workplace to be a productive one, acknowledgment of your employees is crucial.

You can plan to celebrate everything that went well last week, month, quarter, or year. Encourage your workforce. Compile a list of achievements and publish them quarterly or annually. Or even plan an exciting time in your work space. Bring some food, games and offer time for a social experience. It could be within your work space walls or a different experience could include a field trip of some sort. The point is to show you care, and their happiness matters.

Celebrate small achievements with a drink or something light to eat. Employees feel valued with rewards. Reward them with gift cards, movie tickets, or a day off from work.

Throw a party for front line workers when your company achieves some important target. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge party. A small celebration is good enough to boost the morale level of your company. Such events also help you to strengthen your bond with your employees.

Keep your Employees Busy with Projects they are Passionate about:

What would you do more attentively? A task that you are passionate about, or a task that you don’t have any interest in?

Obviously, you’ll perform a better job when you are doing a task that you are passionate about, and most probably the results will also be far better than otherwise. At Google, the company has given its employees a right that allows them to spend 20% of their working time on projects they are passionate about. This policy plays a role beyond boosting the company morale.

Have Fun within your Company:

Your employees should be allowed to have fun with their colleagues and you. You can arrange a monthly game day where you can have different competitions of games. You can also offer some fun rewards to your company employees on achieving some particular targets.
