Continued - The Why Concept & How I Am Where I Am Today

So we all grasp the fact that having a why is the foundation, the stem for what is to come. It is the focus on what to expect for the future. The reasoning to anticipate an outcome without actually knowing the final destination. Companies have a why. Individuals do too. The mission is to find yours and lead with it.

Knowing your why is the most efficient way to oversee your life’s content with finesse. Your why doesn’t need to be complicated and the truth is although, we would like to make things more complex (we don’t know any better, we are humans), simplicity is the truth in our hearts.

I’ve been asked the question - well how do I know MY why? How exactly do I find out what MY why is?

Listen, I’m no expert here, but most would be surprised to hear the circumstances I have found myself in, or the situations in which I have so unfortunately, placed myself. With all of that comes experience and with experience, my why was defined in the most simplest of ways. It is about adjusting your worldview to focus on what you most enjoy. To think about the times you feel happy without even thinking about it.

In listing some of my likes, although I’m sure you may not care, the point is this list may help you to see your own why and or potentially show you a way to get to your why. At least, that is the goal;)

Here goes:

  1. I like to talk, when I want to. HAH!
  2. I like to read and express myself through writing - obviously LOL
  3. I like to meet new people, sometimes, but most of the time :)
  4. I like to see others laugh, smile and be upbeat. It creates a happy in me I cannot explain.
  5. I like music. I can read and listen to music. Write and listen to music. Work and listen to music. Music is just - me.
  6. “I like being goofy” is a true understatement - it is my personality!
  7. Lastly, as much as I dislike flying, I like to travel!

BONUS: I like FOOD a lot! And I like wine on occasion, really ALL the time, but that doesn’t really matter, right? HAH!

Next step?

Find the why through it all.

As I take a look at my list, there are some common threads - Inspiration. Communication. Movement. Most importantly, I think I just get bored easily! My spectrum of boredom is the very reason many of my friends said, “You will need a special man in your life to keep you interested and entertained.” #Facts

My Husband and I - The FIRST Day we met!

I found him too OR he found me - We found one another!

Brief reminder: My why is to connect to people and connect people together, to be the CONNECTOR and everything that I like helps me to do so. Think about it! Reading, writing, music, food, talking, is all inspiring. All modes of connection. Communication is connecting. Movement and not being stagnant connects, and travel, alone is probably one of the most beneficial ways to learn other cultures, cuisines and people, to in turn ----GUESS WHAT? To become a better connector.

Strangers That Became Friends During A Trip In Lisbon!

It was almost a natural, most inevitable happening that I would then be connected through a friend of a mutual friend miles away from home in Charlotte that would have the same career as me (event manager) that would invite me to an event in her hometown and where I live (Chicago) just 1 week after our first meeting in Charlotte (keep up). You may have to read this entire paragraph again! 😳

So from Chicago to Charlotte and back to Chicago to meet my now husband at a party hosted by this new friend that my husband just so happened to meet 2 weeks earlier in Charlotte too! Now, please explain to me how all of this happened? It is none other than serendipity, following your why, relishing in it and going with the flow. By the way - I went to Charlotte alone. Went to the party in Chicago - alone. And guess what, the best of what my life had in store for me was brought to me when I did something I normally would not do.

Please note: One main reason I was in Charlotte was because my boss suggested I go to check out the market for a potential new launch city.

Do you see the role of coincidence in this entire situation? How my why, was incorporated in it all and how the entire world of my why assisted me in being in the right place, at the right time? Cliche’ I know, but the truth it still is.

I challenge everyone to lead with an understanding of your why and see where your journey will take you! 😎
