Social Scene president and co-founder William Holdeman is more than excited to introduce the event. He says, “We are very excited to partner with Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) and Blind Owl Brewery to host in Indianapolis on September 15th to help create another I Heart Bourbon event. The organizers are providing an intimate setting with brand representatives showcasing their products. So many surprises await attendees in this three-hour tasting festival in Indianapolis, with over 40 whiskey and bourbons to choose from. Let’s get to know some of these brands a bit better.
1. Brown-Forman
Jack Daniel’s as the world’s best selling whiskey
Jack Daniel’s
Jack Daniel’s is one of the whiskey brands under Brown-Forman. Enjoy their Tennessee Rye, Single Barrel Rye, and Single Barrel Proof at the 2018 Indianapolis I Heart Bourbon Tasting Festival.
The brand is touted as the world’s best selling whiskey which comes from the oldest registered distillery in North America, Jack Daniel Distillery. It was founded in 1866 and one of the products, the Tennessee Whiskey is made from the best corn, rye, and barley malt.
Old Forester, the first bottled bourbon in America
Old Forester
Taste the bourbon love with Old Forester, another brand under Brown-Forman. Considered as the first bottled bourbon in America, it has continually become an inspiration for many other brands because of its distinctive flavors and expressions.
Old Forester 1987 and Old Forester 1920 will join the other bourbon and whiskey brands in the tasting festival. Old Forester 1897 Bottled in Bond gives you a big and bold finish from an aroma of caramel, vanilla, and roasted coffee, and tastes of deep fruit and spices layered over caramel and vanilla. On the other hand, the 1920 Prohibition Style is reminiscent of the era that goes with its name, and pays tribute to the vibrant underground party scene of the decade. Aroma has a fusion of cherry preserves, caramel, dark chocolate, maple syrup and spices from oak flavors. Once sipped, the taste gives the blend of malt nuttiness and sweet graham cracker in peppercorn and coriander spices.
Rich smooth flavor from Woodford Reserve
Woodford Reserve
Woodford Reserve is a collection of bourbons and whiskeys that give a rich, smooth flavor with notes of citrus, cinnamon, toffee, chocolate, and spices. Altogether, they give a finish that is both smooth and well-rounded. Featured brands in the tasting festival are Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and Malt Whiskey.

2. Constellation
High West Distillery
Various labels under High West Distillery will also be featured at the bourbon tasting festival. These include High West Campfire, High West Double Rye, High West Rendezvous Rye, and American Prairie Bourbon. There is so much story behind High West Distillery, especially when it recalls how it started its humble roots as a small saloon based in a stable and garage. Right now, it has grown to be an internationally-acclaimed brand.
3. Huber’s Orchard, Winery, and Vineyards
Blackberry Whiskey
Though Huber’s has a rich collection of wine more than other beverage types, this company which has been existing since the 19th century, will present its distilled products at the 2018 Indianapolis I Heart Bourbon Tasting Festival. The winery makes a whiskey counterpart to its blackberry wine. The Blackberry Whiskey combines the crop with whiskey distilled in a copper pot still.

Huber’s signature blend that has 58% corn, 27% rye, and 15% malted barley. The distillery makes it using 80-gallon copper pot still from Germany and then transferred over to 53-gallon barrels from various companies and various barrel styles.
Old Rickhouse Rye Whiskey
This is a small batch rye whiskey aged in oak barrels to produce a liquor with hints of sweet caramel and vanilla.
4. Luxco
Rebel Yell
From whiskeys to tequilas, Luxco has built its reputation with its outstanding set of brands for more than five decades now. One of their well-regarded brands is Rebel Yell. Their recipe makes use of pure Kentucky limestone-filtered water and the aging happens in new charred white oak barrels. Making their way to the 2018 Indianapolis I Heart Bourbon Tasting Festival are Rebel Yell Bourbon, Rebel Yell Root Beer, Rebel Yell Ginger, and Rebel Yell Small Batch Bourbon.
David Nicholson Reserve
David Nicholson Reserve is an extra-aged “ryed” bourbon that combines aroma notes of honey and vanilla with smoke undertones, with tastes of woody tones and mild spices.

5. Rémy Cointreau
Fusion of traditional and modernity from Westland Distillery
Westland Distillery
Westland Distillery takes pride in creating superior and high-quality single malt whiskies, crafted in a distinctly American style. Coming to showcase themselves at the 2018 Indianapolis I Heart Bourbon Tasting Festival, this Seattle-based distillery uses a fusion of avant-garde and tradition in its approach. One of its products, the American Single Malt, is distilled with 100 percent malted barley. It has tasting notes of coffee, toffee, vanilla, pipe tobacco, and leather. Westland Distillery also has Sherry Wood Finish and Peated Finish. Taste them at the bourbon tasting festival on September 15th.
2018 Indianapolis I Heart Bourbon Tasting Festival
The tasting festival will start at 12pm and run until 3pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the fine tastes of several bourbons with 10 tasting tickets and additional are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Cystic Fibrosis. There will be one full whiskey drink also included, entertainment, and raffle prizes.
