MN13 or Minnesota 13 is one of a line of products produced by 11 Wells Spirits. This expression is named after the original corn liquor moonshine that was commonly distilled at farms in Stearns County, Minnesota. This whiskey line is distilled twice and aged properly for premium quality.

11 Wells makes sure that its spirits are locally made from start to finish. Located in east Saint Paul, the distillery has been operating for almost five years. They offer prohibition-style corn whiskey as well as aged molasses and botanical gin. If it’s a variety of spirits that you’re looking for, 11 Wells is the brand for you.
How It All Began
The distillery was established in 2013 as a distillery and craft cocktail lounge as part of the revitalization efforts on the Payne Avenue Corridor. It’s located on Minnehaha Avenue in St. Paul, close to the historic Hamm’s brewery. Like the brewery, the distillery uses its onsite wells as a water source for its spirits.

Some might remember the former name of 11 Wells, Mill City Distillery. Offering Minnesota-made spirits and liqueurs, 11 Wells never runs out of bottles. The Team Behind 11 Wells’ Production
Products like MN13 wouldn’t be possible without an expert team of friends, family, and customers. The team is headed by Bob and Lee, who make sure to put their passion into every endeavor they undertake. The two joined forces to open the distillery, and after extensive research and more than 40 distillery visits, 11 Wells was brought to life.
With years of experience in business analysis and microbiology and a deep love for distilling, Bob is committed to the rise and success of 11 Wells. As an avid mixologist with his own array of cocktail curvatures, Lee makes sure that each bottle is unique and creative. The MN13 Barrel-Aged Whiskey comes in a clear apricot-orange hue with an aroma of toasty and sweet caramel corn. You can also find hints of light coffee with bits of buttered toast and fresh strawberry. The palate offers flavors of bitter and dark cocoa powder followed by carob and orange peel hints with a dry finish.
3. Bourbon Whiskey

11 Wells’ Bourbon Whiskey is in its prototype series. Every bottle has a serial number and contains 13 elements. Each element denotes a particular flavor, making the whiskey unique and different in every batch. As part of this series, new mash bills are created and barrel proofs, yeast strains, and cooperages undergo a variety of experiments. This is all to produce a flavorful whiskey that will keep you coming back for more.
4. Rye Whiskey

11 Wells Rye Whiskey gives you a nose of fragrant fresh grains and sawdust. This is a young whiskey with a very raw profile in its distillate form. The flavor offers plenty of rye with hints of perfume and pine. Expect a lingering grainy finish.
5. Wheat Whiskey

The Wheat Whiskey uses exclusively Minnesota grains, combining 90% spring and 10% barley in five-gallon barrels. The whiskey is matured for four months before undergoing bottling. Expect strong wheat flavors that showcase what Minnesota wheat is all about.
6.Single Malt Whiskey

The 11 Wells Single Malt Whiskey is aged for five months using 53-gallon Hogshead barrels with a level three char. You’ll find hints of peated and Maris Otter malt in this expression. The whiskey is mashed, fermented, distilled, and bottled on-site at the distillery in Minnesota.

11 Wells is looking for more opportunities to share their expressions, especially MN13. In addition to the tasting room and distillery gift shop, 11 Wells has plans to open up a bar and restaurant on-site. This is intended to complement the growing variety of hand-crafted spirits at the distillery.
